Breath and Health




In the human body there are nerves which control the hormones that are dependent to the human psychological condition. If our psychological condition is good, then our body or biological state will be good as well. Likewise, if we are not psychologically well, then, it will affect our nervous and hormonal system condition.  The state of nervous system, good or bad, will affect the hormonal system, which in turn causes the body to be susceptible to disease. Therefore, the three aspects must be in good balance and must be in the state of good health.
Our healthy psychological condition, particularly in a network of psycho-neuro-endocrine system, can control the physical immune system. Physical immune system improves as the psychological factor in this network increases. Likewise, the decrease of immune system eases the susceptibility to diseases. As a counterweight to keep the physical health balance, we can motivate ourselves to cultivate serenity, patience, and enthusiasm. We can also motivate ourselves to draw closer to God through deeds known and commanded in Islam. One of the most important practice is doing dzikir daily. Through the practice of dzikir, especially breath dzikir, we can obtain serenity, which in turn improves the nervous and hormonal system, thus,  increases the physical immune system and decreases the susceptibility to diseases.
In the context of physical metabolism, the human body requires oxygen in the blood to facilitate the smooth physical metabolic system. With proper breathing the need for oxygen in the body will be met. After more or less three minutes of practicing breath dzikir, our breathing rhythm will return to normal and the duration of exhaling and inhaling will be longer.
The more oxygen we inhale, the fulfillment of the oxygen in our body will be optimal. The long exhaling will maximize the disposal of CO2. In addition to metabolic function, a vital biological function is also to safeguard the body cell functions well. Breathing, as a regular motion of circulating and in-taking the oxygen into the body, also helps the process of energy formation from food ingestion.
Breathing also plays a role in repairing process of damaged cells. That's why, in certain serious cases which, breathing technique can help in the treatment process. Some illnesses can be treated by breathing techniques such as: injury, stress, or certain physical pains. The facts of the healing role played by the oxygen indicate that a proper technique of breathing is also important. Facts about the importance of oxygen in the body function is signaling that very important are procedures breath correct settings. The correct technique of breathing can synchronize the performance of whole body organs. Thus, the body will always be in the optimum state and free from any susceptibility to diseases. An optimum physical condition is a requisite for a conducive and healthy living. Because we need an excellent physical stamina in order to run and perform our daily activities.
Decreased stamina is indicted by physical weakness, fatigue, and easily getting tired. It may be caused by lack of sleep, disorder diet, lack of rest, or emotional fatigue or depression. In this case, good breathing technique will provide sufficient oxygen intake. It follows that we can easily take control of our body.
